When The Sun carried the story of a student urinating on a remembrance memorial last week I was deeply offended and saddened. Is this what the youth of today have come to. The 19 year old student Phil Laing had been drinking all day and said he hadn't eaten since lunch time. He was so drunk after openly peeing on the war memorial he happily gave his name to passes by who had seen him do it and taken the photo. You can even see him standing on the memorial plaque reading:
"In eternal recognition of the men and women of Sheffield who lost their lives in the cause of freedom in conflicts and peace keeping duties throughout the world.
"We will remember them."

This is truly disgraceful and so offensive.

This is sickening. I hope he got charged for this. How can anyone show such little respect for a war memorial? I'm just fuming about this.

I've read in The Sun today that he's pleaded guilty to his charge and the judge warned he may face jail but the next hearing is end of the month i think. Best part, it commented that he wore a poppy on his suit!!
