Tony Curtis has died at the age of 85 at his Las Vegas home from a cardiac arrest. He previously had heart bypass surgery in 1994. The Oscar nominated actor starred in more than 140 films, and one of Roger Moore paid tribute to him saying "He was a fine actor." and "I shall miss him."
He starred in tv hit The Persuaders, classic film Some Like it Hot and was nominated for The Defiant Ones in 1959. Curtis was married 5 times, took a break from acting whilst he battled drug and alcohol abuse and also became a painter, sometimes selling canvas' for $20,000. He'd previously joined the Navy and served in the Pacific during the Second World War where he was wounded in action before returning to New York to study acting. He got his big break in 1948, changed his name and his career went from strength to strength.
